How we calculate

Excluding VAT: we add up the amounts per rate and apply the rate to the sum. Including VAT: we divide the total per rate by 1 plus the rate, so by 1.21 at 21%. The difference is the VAT.

VAT is rounded to whole cents per rate, over the sum of the lines. The Belastingdienst allows rounding per line or over the total; per line can differ by a cent.

Under the KOR you charge no VAT to your customers and file no VAT returns, but you cannot reclaim VAT on your costs either. Your Dutch turnover must stay within the limit, this year and last year.

This is an estimate. Which rate applies to your product or service, and whether you can use the KOR, depends on your situation. Some supplies are exempt from VAT, which is not the same as 0%. This is not personal tax advice.
